What differentiates Olympics from the other sporting events and makes it one of the best sporting events of the globe is the number of sports played in every Olympic event. The 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, has become all the more interesting with the IOC increasing the number of games to 102 in 7 sports and 15 disciplines.
The events are scheduled to take place from 9-25 February with a rest day on 13th, 16th, 19th, and 21st of February. The first event will be Women’s 7.5km Sprint on 10th February followed by Men’s 10km Sprint on 11th, Women’s 10.5km pursuit and Men’s 12.5km pursuit on 12th, Women’s 15km individual on 14th, Men’s 20km individual on 15th, Women’s 12.5km mass start on 17th, Men’s 15km mass start on 18th, Women’s 4x6km relay on 22nd, and Men’s 4×7.5km relay on 23rd of February. The 2x6km/2×7.5km mixed relay event has been scheduled for the 20th of February.

Biathlon will be one of the major sport with 11 medal events lined up. It will have a maximum number of 230 players participating from the different contesting nations. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Norway topped the medals tally with three gold, one silver, and two bronze. A total of 31 medals were given to athletes in all the 11 medal events. Belarus too managed to bag three gold medals. There will be a total of 11 medal events contested in Biathlon sport at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Men and women will contest separately in five events; Sprint, Pursuit, Individual, Mass Start, and Relay. The eleventh event will be a mixed relay event that will have two men and two women from each country. The qualification will be based on the Nation Cup scores of the top 3 athletes from each nation during the 2016-17 Biathlon World Cup. A total of 230 athletes will be allowed to participate in the 11 events of Biathlon.
All the 11 events are bound to take place at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-Gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea. The arena is all set to host all the Olympic fans and athletes. It will be played from 9-25 February 2018.Subcribe Now
